Do You BORE Everyone?
Bringing visitors to your website is one thing - keeping them there is another. If you’re INTERESTING you’ve got a higher chance your audience will stay on your page, check out your site, and eventually bring you the cash flow you’re desiring.
How can you be interesting?? Make sure your content is on-topic. Personalize it. People want to be talked with, not to. Involve your readership. Social interactions are a big part of a websites lifeblood in today’s market. Learn to involve your audience to the point they are actively creating content for you.
I’ve been adding various plugins to this site to involve my readership. Plugins from various communities I’m part of. Interactions between all my communities is the goal. A sense of community will always bring added interest to your visitors.
Contests and giveaways are of course great attention getters, as are images and videos. Just because you are adding these to your site does not necessarily mean you’re interesting. The way in which one goes about using tools such as contests, images, video, etc.. determines how “interesting” one is to viewers.
Being interesting is all to do with presentation. If you can cut out the insecurities, add some personal flare and give some real value in everything that you do - you’ll find your visitors staying much longer on-site and you may find what you’re doing easier and more “interesting” to you!
Food For Thought: One Truly Interesting Post Can Skyrocket Your Success.
Here’s a few websites I’d give my personal “Thumbs-Up” for being pretty damn interesting. Perfect references when looking for websites that consistently get attention in major social media networks like Digg, Propellor, or StumbleUpon.
3 Majorly Interesting Websites (Frontpage On Major Social Sites Consistently)
- Cracked - With more stories dugg than I can count to, this site knows what works. Go over some of their frontpages on Digg for examples of how to write content that is “Diggable”.
- Engadget - This site gains major exposure in digg, gearing towards the tech crowd. They capitalize on the “insider’s edge” of what’s new and exciting in the technology world.
- the Onion - A satirical news site. Focusing on hot topics with a “twisted” edge, the Onion consistently achieves social network traffic in some major numbers.
Don’t be mistaken, they’re not getting these results by accident. They know what works and play off of it.

I totally agree result never come by accident and success never come over nite. We really have to work hard and plan good strategy. Content is still the king.

If you notice, your title will also play a big part in capturing your readers attention. Comparing this 2 titles “Tips to make money online” and “Can You Really Earn $100 online?” which you think will attract more attention.

Enjoyable post. Content will always draw people, although it may take time to develop a dedicated readership. I think it also helps to have something unique to say, rather than repeating or plaigerizing what is on other blogs.

To your point, “…people want to be talked with, not to…”—I had to learn that one! When I first started blogging, my writing was a combination of talking to and with. So, of course, on the days when I talked with, my traffic increased for those posts and did the opposite when I talked to my readers. Good points.
