Hot Websites for Writing Yourself Rich

26 July, 2008 (19:59) | Useful Websites | By: User ImageSocialMind

In this post I’m going to reveal a few of the websites that I’ve found helpful when writing for money. There are numerous sources of work online for a writer and many different kinds of writing jobs out there - IF you know where to look.

As a writer, you may choose to build your own network of content that is supported through the advertising and products sold on the pages that you write. Or, you may choose to work as a freelancer, writing articles for various clients that need content for magazines, newspapers, online websites, etc.

So, basically you can either go freelance, and get paid usually by the word (2 cents a word, 5 cents a word, etc..) or you can start making content on websites that are designed to help you brainstorm, create and publish your writing alongside your choice of advertising and product selling options.

Freelancing is the option that will get you money the fastest. On the other hand, your writing is only as valuable as that one set price per job. When writing for your own online publishing networks or websites, you can reap money for years from one single article.

Some people prefer to do both of these options. Having the security of a set wage per article wrote alongside the investment of growing your online properties can be a powerful one, two punch.

Here’s the sites I’ve found most helpful when looking for a job as a freelance writer:

  • DigitalPoint’s Content Services Forum- This section of the digital point forum has constant job opportunities for the aspiring writer. There is no reason you cannot login there, make a reasonable amount of posts to start creating a trust factor, then offer your services or even put offers in on jobs that people have already posted. There’s no reason you can’t do it right this instant! This is a way to immediately getting money every single day of your life paid directly to your paypal account directly from the person buying your article.
  • Helium Here’s a newer concept. Helium is attempting to be a web2.0 type of social workplace for writers. Allowing the login of both parties wanting articles written and writers wanting to write articles, helium lets the client post a job, and wait to see a selection of articles written. As a writer, you will end up writing articles on a variety of subjects, gaining content on the helium network and hopefully gaining money from being selected as the “best article” by a client. Not quite the assured income of other methods, helium may be a way of both building online assets and direct cashflow.
  • Warrior Forum - Seen as a place for serious online marketers, the warrior forum is a place that a good content writer can gain some serious clients. Filled with people using first and last names, making serious commitments to large deals, this forum is like the Digital Point Content Services Section, allowing you to post your services for prospective clients to see.
  • oDesk - Is a fantastic site for more than just writing even. Website Design, Content Creation, SEO Services, Graphic Design Etc.. this site allows anyone to get an account and start bidding on projects. There are many people wanting article writing found here.

And here I’ve listed the sites that I’ve found easy for writers to publish their content on. These sites are designed to help the writer make a living online without the headache of being a webmaster. The revenue share on some of these sites is quite reasonable. Revenue share, for those of you who don’t know, means you and the website you are writing for will both share in the profits from the webpage you create. The social nature of some of these websites can create quite high rankings in the search engines for new content with light promotion behind it.

  • HubPages - Easy way for a writer to start writing articles on topics of their choice. With the right keyword research and promotion, google will love your well done hubpages! They allow a generous revenue share from google adsense, amazon, ebay, konterra and even allow you to stick in your tracking code from google analytics.
  • Squidoo - Second on my list for places to publish your content, squidoo allows you a wide range of possibilities in designing what are called “Lenses” - Lenses are a concept made popular by Seth Godin - a brilliant mind and pioneer in the thinking that has gone into recent theories on social marketing.
  • Knol - Just released by Google, Knol may turn into a good spot for the authority writer to talk on their topics. Allowing a revenue share through adsense, Knol is peeking my interest.
  • eHow - Another site along the lines of hubpages, eHow allows anyone to tell “how” to do anything. This brilliant site allows a nice revenue share as well.
